G.P.A. Calculation based on G.P.A. scale 1 through 4 for point system of 1 to 100

 

Individual Class GPA formula

 

( (Total of points of each quarter taken) / (Total possible points of quarter taken) ) / ( .25) = GPA

 

Example:

For this Student, his GPA for Algebra is 4.0

(400 / 400) / .25 = 4.0

 

and for English, his GPA is 3.53

 

(352 / 400) /.25 = 3.52

 

 

 

GPA for cumulative classes (for current school year, also known as Report Card)

 

( (Total of points of all classes of each quarter) / ( Total possible points of all classes of quarter taken)) / (.25) = GPA

 

Example

For this student, his GPA total for both MATH and ENGLISH for the first quarter is 3.96

( 198 / 200 ) / .25 = 3.96

 

 

 

Cumulative Class GPA formula (for all school years attended, also known as Transcripts)

Total GPA of all classes taken for all school year  / Number of classes taken for all school year

 

Example:

For this student, his total GPA for this school, he ended up finishing the school with GPA 3.58 (assuming he only took four classes total, two in year 2009 and another two in 2010)

14.3 / 4 = 3.575 or 3.58 when rounded up
